Obtaining EORI number
EORI (Economic Operator Registration and Identification) is a unique identification number assigned to businesses or individuals engaged in the import/export of goods or involved in customs procedures within the European Union (EU) and countries operating with the EU in a similar context. EORI is used for tracking and monitoring shipments, declarations, and customs obligations associated with economic operators.

EORI is required both in cases of local presence in the country of import/export and in cases where there is no such presence. Whether you are a resident or non-resident of the country, importing or exporting goods, participating in customs procedures, or engaging in other trade-related activities within the EU, you are required to have your unique EORI number. This ensures identification and facilitates customs processes when moving goods across borders and complying with relevant customs rules and obligations.

To apply for an EORI number, the following information and documents are typically required:

  • Full details of the organisation or individual, including name, address, and contact information.

  • Statutory documents of the organisation or documents confirming the identity of the individual.

  • Tax identification number (UTR) - automatically assigned upon company registration if you are registered in the United Kingdom.

  • Date of commencement of business activity.

  • Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code. It is assigned during the company registration process if you are registered in the United Kingdom.

  • Government Gateway user ID for accessing government services portal GOV.UK. It is automatically generated during the company registration process if you are registered in the United Kingdom.

  • VAT registration date and VAT registration number, if you are registered.
